Built in 1964 by the prestigious architect Jose Maria Coderch, the Sol Melia del Mar in Illetas, is one of the best examples of modern architecture on the Balearic Islands. After a complete refurbishment in early 2008, the hotel now has very funky, contemporary interiors and spacious shady outdoor terraces. The location, on a peninsula, means that all rooms have sea views. All rooms are equipped to the highest standards, and even have a choice of aromatherapy pillows.
The Melia offers 2 main restaurants as well as a poolside snack bar and pool bar service. There are two outdoor pools as well as a heated indoor pool, and direct access to the sea via a small cove. The YHI spa is beautifully decorated, very relaxing and offers a good range of treatments in stylish surroundings.
The Melia is a 15 minute drive from central Palma, and Illetas also offers a good choice of nightlife if you don't want to stray too far afield. There are a number of areas and rooms that can be used as meeting areas and there are numerous activities that can be arranged from this hotel.
Room prices start from 160 to 610 Euros per night.
