Puigpunyent

Puigpunyent

Situated towards the South West the quiet village of Puigpunyent sits in the shadow of Puig Galatzo after which it is named, the pointed peak that is rumoured to give off a positive energy. It is also a destination for one of the island's most popular walks for those that enjoy serious hiking. At the end of a long winding valley which is punctuated by huge old posessios, country estates, is Puigpunyent a quiet village and home to some beautiful hotels, restaurants and an imposing 13th century church.

Beaches around Puigpunyent

As a mountain village the beaches are not typically close by. For major beaches head down to Palma and visit Illetas, or Portixol. For those looking for something a little quieter a winding, but beautiful drive, will lead to the quiet bays of Cala Estellenc, and San Telmo at the furthest east tip of the island which is also a good place to visit the Island of Dragonera, named for its indigenous small lizards. The calas around this area are small and relatively quiet all year.

Things to see and do in Puigpunyent

If you enjoy road cycling this is the perfect location for the serious hill masters and during Spring and Autumn scores of cyclists enjoy the dramatic roads. For walkers the Puig de Galatzo offers a challenging but truly rewarding trek as the views from the top are simply breathtaking. For corporate groups, team building or a fun family day out La Reserva offers a mix of nature reserve and action and adventure in typical Mallorcan countryside. If you're looking for something more sedate then perhaps a visit to a local family run vineyard accompanied by lunch beneath the vines is something we can arrange. For more things to do in and around Puigpunyent visit the what's on guide Digame.

Places to eat in Puigpunyent

For a small village Puigpunyent has an excellent variety of eating options. Sa Central is a local cafe run by Marga who provides the most delicious local tapas, or fresh market salads. Enjoy lunch in their courtyard. La Vila is a bistro type restaurant offering a mix of pizza, pasta and local fare with a lovely location overlooking the citrus groves behind. For something a little more international try The Rose which has a mix of Mediterranean and Northern European dishes on the menu. Can Domingo on the main road through town is perfect for those that want to blend in with the locals. For more ideas of where to eat around the area visit www.skybluemallorca.com

Places to stay in Puigpunyent.

The flagship of the village, and indeed it can be argued of the island, is the simply sumptuous Son Net, part of The Stein Group of hotels. This is the place to chill, relax and enjoy the views whilst eating fabulous food. One of Mallorca's most recently opened luxury hotel properties is Es Ratxo, for exclusiveness, and discretion this really can not be beaten. For a view with a room the mountain lodge of Scotts of Galilea is a perfect retreat and for an authentic Mallorca posessio experience the Son Pont property is about as real as it gets.
