Located in a reformed merchants house, this is the most decadent cocktail bar in Palma. As you pick your way through the piles of meticulously placed fresh fruit, find yourself a seat in the opulent garden, and listen to Strauss waltzes, you can't help but wonder if someone might peel a grape for you. The cocktails are as elaborate as the location, even the non-alcoholic fruit flavours appear in the huge Abaco cocktail glasses. This has to be seen to be believed and is a great way to while away a couple of hours in the heart of La Lonja.
This incredibly hip bar is located in one of Europes most trendy hotels, Puro. Puro has made an art of urban ethnic chic and the white feathered ceiling, luxuriously covered furniture and beautiful people all make this worth a stop on an evening out. The bottle filled bar has every drink ever conceived, and the in-house DJ creates an atmosphere of style not to be found anywhere else. The ever popular Puro Beach is also open to non guests and offers a good chill zone by the sea.
Served along with drinks at The Garrito Cafe is a fantastic selection of music, a relaxed atmosphere and an international menu. Open from 7pm every day, music takes centre stage in this hip cafe-bar.
A taxi ride out of Palma the Virtual Bar at Illetas is well worth the effort. Recline in hammocks, listen to ambient music, and enjoy freshly made cocktail. Watch the moon reflect of the Mediterranean as you lounge on ridiculously comfortable sofas and sip your glass of chilled refreshment. A superb place to relax after a hectic days shopping. If you have the energy the Virtual night club is hidden away in a cavern beneath the cove.
Around the other side of the bay is the contemporarily styled Las Terrazas bar. Serving fabulous drinks and superb food this bar is a great place to start your evening before moving round to the Virtual club.
For a more traditional Modernista bar (although it is fake but don't' tell anybody) head to La Lonja just next to the old market exchange, Sa Llotja, on the sea front. Black and white tiles, wooden bars and a couple of levels of wooden tables make this a low key venue for an early evening drink.
Situated in a little street just around the corner from the Plaza Major, Bar Espana is worth seeking out for its great atmosphere, lively staff and superb selection of food. The bar is popular with locals who go to enjoy the nightly feast of freshly made tapas appearing from the tiny kitchen around 8.30pm. Help yourself and the bar man will keep count even if, like me, you don't. 971 724 234
One of Palma's trendier venues this bar offers a relaxed lounge type atmosphere in which to enjoy watching the world go by on the Paseo, or the other clients who may be taking a drink before heading to the club of the same name next year. Good cocktails, great ambience and chic surrounds make this a good starting point for a night out.
With views over the Mediterranean, comfortable sofas, and a gentle lounge feel this is a great place to go for a post dinner drink if you're out and about in Portixol. Eclectic furniture and an intimate feel creates a relaxed feel for those that just want to take it easy.
