Located at the end of a winding and verdant valley the pretty fishing village of Cala Sant Vicenc is one of Mallorca's least developed holiday resorts. Sandwiched between two peninsulas the geography has meant that development has been restricted and as such this is the perfect place for relaxing with your family, or using as a base for exploring the north of the island.
Cala Sant Vicenc is set on two bays, Cala Barques which is a small shingly beach with great rocks for snorkelling, and Cala Molins a sandy bay with cliffs rising high to the right of it. For the active head to Pto Pollensa bay where there is every sort of water activity you could think of available. For those seeking exclusive beaches then take the ferry boat from Pollensa to the elegant Formentor bay for an alternative swimming spot amongst the elite.
As a quiet fishing village that is now a small resort the main activities are more easily found on Puerto Pollensa beach. However there are some ancient pre-historic burial caves that can be explored on the outskirts of the village, not for the faint hearted. If you enjoy walking then this is a good place to base yourselves for exploring the Tramuntana mountains. On the way up to Lluc monastery which is about a 30 minute drive, you could stop off at Vinyes Mortitx, a shangrila type vineyard nestled in rugged terrain. Its possible to arrange a wine tour and tasting here too. Lying about fifteen minutes drive from the Cala is the Albufereta which is a wetland area designated as Mallorca's first nature reserve.
The small fishing village has a number of eating establishments the finest of which can be found at the Hotel Cala Sant Vicenc. The Cavall Bernat offers a wonderful Mallorcan menu but with a modern twist set in a stylish dining room with attentive service. Also part of the hotel is La Trattoria a fabulous Italian restaurant serving some classic dishes. For a sea front location Cal Patro at the side of the Hotel Niu is a red check clothed fish restaurant serving up freshly caught fare. For something more snack like the Windsurf restaurant overlooks the bay and offers a menu with something for everybody. The best place to stay in Cala Sant Vicenc is the elegant Hotel Cala Sant Vicenc. Open for thirty years, and with great heritage this has to be one of the most relaxing hotels on the island. Elegant, stylish and with a fine ambience definitely one of our favourite places. For a sea front location the boutique beach hotel the Niu offers simple rooms which you can literally step out of onto the beach.
Market – in the main square on a Sunday in Pollensa
Fiesta – The main festival is the last weekend in August and sees all sorts of arts and crafts events
Golf – The nine hole course of Pollensa, and the 18 hole course of Alcanada are the closest courses.
Spa – The Hotel Cala Sant Vicenc can arrange beauty treatments and has a sauna.
Parking – the best place to park is along any of the roads as marked. There is a car park on the beach edge but its often full so its worth just parking in a side street and walking down to the sea.
