The Beautiful North

A guided tour through the stunning scenery of northern Mallorca, taking in rugged coasts, pretty villages, historic sites, and the Tramuntana Mountains.

Collected from your accommodation the tour will generally begin in Palma, and then take the pretty winding road towards the village of Estellencs, where the coast tumbles down to the Mediterranean.  Continue to Banyalbufar, one of the main strongholds of the North African Moors who ruled Mallorca from 903 to 1229.  The terraced irrigation system they developed to eke a living from this unforgiving landscape is used by farmers to this day, and you will be able to appreciate the terraced mountainsides, like a giant's stairway leading down to the sea, which supports groves of olive, almond and citrus trees.

Moving north you will arrive at Valldemossa, famously the winter residence of Chopin and George Sand.  They lodged in the Carthusian monatery in the village, which we would recommend visiting.  From here, follow the coastal road to Deia and break for lunch at El Olivo Restaurante in the Hotel La Residencia (payable locally).

From Deia take the dramatic mountain road to the Monastery of Lluc, one of the most emblematic sites for the Mallorcan culture and home to the Moreneta - Mallorca's Black Madonna.  After your visit to Lluc you will head down to Inca and the wine producing region around Binissalem on your way back to your accommodation.

Prices from 500.  Suitable for groups of up to 10 people.
