Son Borguny is a tiny gem of a hotel, tucked away on a quiet back street of the pretty mountain village of Banyalbufar. The hotel is run by Penny, who ensures that there is a friendly welcome, and the original design of all the sunny rooms was done by her daughter - this really is a family concern.
Banyalbufar is suspended between mountain and sea - from some of the rooms, when lying in bed all you can see is the distant horizon where sea and sky meet. From other rooms the view is towards the Tramuntana mountains.
The village is well off the tourist radar, but still has a couple of good restaurants to choose from. During the winter when the restaurants are closed, Penny provides home cooked Mallorcan specialities for her guests.
Although the Bay of Banyalbufar can be reached on foot, Son Borguny is not really the destination for a beach holiday. Rather this is where to stay if you want a traditional Mallorcan welcome and a location with truly stunning scenery.
Room prices range from 90 to 120 Euros per night, including breakfast and local taxes.
